Mining farm that caused 8 million rubles of damage was revealed in St. Petersburg


In St. Petersburg, the police uncovered an underground mining farm that caused damage of almost 8 million rubles. This was announced on June 30 in the press service of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
"During an inspection on the territory of one of the enterprises located on Mitrofanevsky Highway, a room was found containing 58 computers used to mine cryptocurrencies," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.
It is noted that the mining farm was powered through the main switchboard to a nearby substation. Electricity was used to operate the entire farm.
According to the Interior Ministry, the damage was estimated at almost 8 million rubles. All the equipment was seized by law enforcement agencies and transferred to a specialized warehouse for storage. A criminal case has been opened under the article on causing property damage by deception. The police are searching for underground cryptocurrency miners.
On June 11, in the Irkutsk region, investigators identified the largest "gray" mining farm for cryptocurrency mining in recent years. It is specified that in order to avoid paying for the consumed electricity, the attackers connected devices bypassing metering devices.
