A catastrophic increase in military spending by NATO countries will eventually lead to the destruction of this organization. This was stated on June 30 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). in Kyrgyzstan.

"A catastrophic, in my opinion, increase in the [military] budget of the NATO countries will also lead to the collapse of this organization," Lavrov stressed.

At the same time, he clarified that Russia, as Russian President Vladimir Putin recently noted in Minsk after a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, plans to reduce its military spending and be guided by common sense, and not by "made-up and unreflected threats" promoted by NATO member countries.

The Euractiv 27 portal reported that the European Union's plans to expand defense capabilities are under threat due to a shortage of critically important mineral resources in the countries of the association. It was clarified that NATO's plans are under threat due to China's almost complete monopoly on rare earths and Russia's control over other important raw materials.
