The Scarlet Sails Alumni Celebration has become one of the most discussed events of the week — the scale on which it was celebrated in St. Petersburg is now being actively discussed in the foreign media. The audience shared their impressions of the event on June 30.

The final chord for graduates from different parts of the world is a salute in honor of those who are on the threshold of adulthood. This St. Petersburg extravaganza was watched all over the world. And a narrow family circle, and whole halls: as, for example, in the branch of the Center for Public Diplomacy in Niger. The Scarlet Sails were observed in China, France, Spain, and Africa.

"It really was an amazing celebration! We saw how rich the culture of Russia is! It was great!" said Veissuleiman Ashku Ibrahim.

In France, in turn, they noted the enthusiasm of the youth, and in Spain they called the holiday "a performance beyond the real." Spanish, Italian, Korean, and Arab media wrote about the Scarlet Sails, and the event was rebroadcast in Argentina.

Not only Russian schoolchildren, but also more than 500 foreign guests from Abkhazia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Cuba were able to see the holiday with their own eyes and become its participant. Graduates from Venezuela danced to the hits of Nadezhda Kadysheva, and a delegation from Africa sang along to the Russian national anthem. Indeed, graduation has long gone beyond Russia — the "Scarlet Sails" unite.

This year marks exactly 20 years since the St. Petersburg tradition was revived on the initiative of ROSSIYA Joint Stock Bank, the Government of St. Petersburg and Channel Five. In the year of Defender of the Fatherland, "Scarlet Sails" was dedicated to Victory.

The stars talked to the graduates in the language of music about the qualities that everyone needs to win. This year's cast is also international. Italian pianist Lorenzo Bagnati performed "Hymn to the Great City" from one of the roofs of St. Petersburg.

"I was a guest last year, I looked at the Scarlet Sails right from there. And this year, being here is really a dream and a great honor for me," the musician said.

Each mise en scene on St. Petersburg's rooftops, embankments, and bridges is a separate story about Victory: will, love, science, and traditions. And the culmination of the performance: volleys of real combat Katyusha rockets.

Five rocket launchers right on the Troitskiy Bridge. One of the Katyushas is a unique museum exhibit from the time of the Great Patriotic War. The Lenreserv patriotic association protects the car. In the sky of the hero city, first 200 and then 120 shells explode in honor of the Great Victory. The whole of St. Petersburg freezes, and the Palace Bridge opens, accompanied by a sparkling firefall.

"I've met some amazing people here! And all this is amazing. Thank you to everyone who brought us to St. Petersburg!" said Isabella Sarache, a graduate from Venezuela.

As many foreign guests have admitted, their dearest wish is to return to the Northern Capital of Russia once again.

"It's just a delight, it can't be described in words! And when the fireworks were at the end, it was just like that!" said graduates Anastasia Khaustova and Alina Gromova.

The Scarlet Sails Alumni Celebration was held in St. Petersburg on the night of June 29. More than 100 thousand schoolchildren from all over the country and from abroad came to see the unique spectacle. The main theme of the celebration was the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Excerpts from Shostakovich's Seventh, Besieged, Symphony were played on the Palace Square. The theme of Victory was continued in the water and pyrotechnic show.
