The largest forest fire on an area of 220 thousand hectares was localized in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was announced on June 30 by Governor Alexander Osipov in his Telegram channel.

"The largest fire has been localized in the Khilok district. Its total area is 220 thousand hectares, which is almost seven times the area of other fires in the region," said the head of Transbaikalia.

According to him, specialists from regional services, volunteers, as well as soldiers from the federal parachute fire service from the republics of Buryatia, Sakha (Yakutia), Mari El, Khakassia, Irkutsk region and Arkhangelsk airbase are involved in the perimeter of the fire.

It is specified that they continue to control the edge of the fire, the length of which is almost 300 km. More than 50 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.

On June 27, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reported that a week later, a forest fire near the village of Atamanovka in the Trans-Baikal Territory was localized on an area of 7 thousand hectares. It is specified that 6 km from the village of Zykovo, 750 hectares of forest are burning. More than 100 people and 18 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire, as well as two Be-200ChS aircraft, an Il-76 aircraft and an Mi-8 helicopter.
