- Canada abolished the tax on digital services for concluding a trade agreement with the United States

The Canadian Ministry of Finance announced that the country had abolished the digital services tax, which was supposed to take effect on June 30. This was announced on June 29 by the agency on the official website of the government.
"The Minister of Finance <... Francois-Philippe Champagne has announced that Canada will eliminate the Digital Services Tax (DST) in anticipation of a mutually beneficial comprehensive trade agreement with the United States," the Canadian Ministry of Finance said in a press release.
According to Champagne, the abolition of the digital services tax will allow negotiations on a new economic and security relationship with the United States. In turn, this will strengthen the work of the Canadian Ministry of Finance to create jobs and ensure well-being for the country's residents.
Earlier in the day, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and US President Donald Trump agreed to resume trade talks to finalize a deal by June 21.
