The US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities are illegal from an international point of view. This was announced on June 30 by political scientist, retired lieutenant Colonel of the American Army Earl Rasmussen in an interview with Izvestia.

"First of all, I think this whole operation was internationally illegal, as well as the attacks and aggression of Israel, which are also illegal and completely unmotivated. Unfortunately, people died on both sides, and serious damage was caused," he said.

According to the ex-lieutenant colonel, Israel's conduct of the operation may be related to the desire to enlist the support of the United States. At the same time, some of the enriched uranium could have survived the attack, which would only encourage Iran to manufacture nuclear weapons.

"Have the stocks of enriched uranium been eliminated? Definitely not. Maybe partially, but not completely. Most likely, this even pushed Iran to further enrich itself," the expert said.

On June 22, Rasmussen said that Washington, by hitting three of Iran's nuclear facilities, had actually started a war with Tehran. The political scientist clarified that the US decision to attack the Islamic Republic makes the country unreliable within the framework of promises and negotiations.
