Milos Vucevic, the leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SPP), called on law enforcement officers to stop the protesters blocking highways. The politician made a corresponding statement on June 30 on the social network X (Ex. Twitter).

"Angry and powerless blockers threw stones at the police last night, and tonight they are throwing stones at the building of the Serbian Progressive Party. Is this how they imagine conducting politics—with a stone in their hand?" "What is it?" he asked himself.

According to Vucevic, the true goal of the protesters blocking the highways is not the struggle for democracy and justice, but the destruction of the state from within. However, the Serbian authorities will not make decisions as dictated by the crowd in the street, he stressed.

"We demand that the competent authorities respond as soon as possible and provide citizens with the opportunity to live normally. Stop the violence! Stop the bullies! Serbia will win!" concluded Vucevic.

Anti-government opposition protests began in Serbia after the events of November 2024, when 15 people died as a result of the collapse of the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad. Shortly after the tragedy, Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and several other politicians resigned.

On June 28, Izvestia published footage from Belgrade after the start of demonstrations on the Vidovdan holiday, the day of remembrance of heroes and national identity of Serbia. It was later reported that at least 36,000 people attended the rally in Belgrade. The protesters were students who came to the square with the slogans "Swing!".
