Arrhythmia drugs with amiodarone will be available in pharmacies after July 31, 2025, sources close to distributors told Izvestia. Reports about the lack of medication began to appear from March 2025.

In February 2025, the Department of Regulation and Circulation of Medicines and Medical Devices of the Ministry of Health issued an information letter to manufacturers. In it, he recommended making changes to the instructions for use for amiodarone. The reason is the detection of a side effect of the drug: if it is used before heart transplantation, the risk of transplant rejection increases.

The Ministry of Health told Izvestia that more than ten medicines with this active substance have been registered in Russia.

"A number of companies have implemented changes to the instructions. The procedure for making changes to the registration dossier of a registered medicinal product takes the time prescribed by law, an average of 60 days," the agency added.

However, they noted that this procedure does not suspend permission for the production, release and sale of an already registered drug. The Ministry of Health also received applications for the re-registration of marginal selling prices from eight manufacturers.

"The applications have been sent to the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia for economic analysis. The maximum deadline for their consideration is July 2, 2025," the ministry said.

The Ministry of Health, citing manufacturers, reported that in the third quarter (from July to September) of 2025, it is planned to launch the drug in volumes exceeding the average demand.
