The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Crimea named the cause of the forest fire in Alushta

The cause of the forest fire in Alushta, previously, was careless handling of fire. This was announced on Sunday, June 29, by Olga Shevtsova, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Crimea.

"The preliminary cause of the fire is careless handling of fire," Shevtsova said, the video was posted on her Telegram channel.

According to the minister, more than 300 specialists, 50 pieces of equipment and two helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fire, which carried out 30 water discharges. Once again, one of the helicopters will join in extinguishing the fire at 05:00 (local time, coincides with Moscow time). Also, due to the inaccessibility of the area, miners are involved in eliminating the fire, Shevtsova added.

She stressed that localization has not yet been announced.

The People's Front announced that civil servants were being forced to fight fire, but the volunteer units did not confirm the information.

The fire in Alushta became known earlier that day. It was clarified that the extinguishing is complicated by inaccessible terrain, rocky massif, gusty winds up to 12 m/s. The fire area, according to the latest data, was 5 hectares.
