On June 29, French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the nuclear issue with Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian during a telephone conversation in which he stated the need to resume the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the Islamic Republic.

"Today, I had a new telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian. I told him about <...> compliance with the framework of the Treaty on the Non—Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the early resumption of the work of the IAEA in Iran to ensure full transparency," Macron wrote on the social network X.

The French president also called for the release of French citizens, respect for the ceasefire and return to the negotiating table for a peaceful settlement of the nuclear issue.

Earlier in the day, the head of Iran's judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, said that Iran would no longer cooperate with the IAEA on the same terms that were relevant before the attacks by Israel and the United States on the territory of the Islamic Republic. According to the official, the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities and their compliance with international laws have been confirmed by the agency.
