The area of dry grass fire in Alushta, Republic of Crimea, has increased to 5 hectares. This was announced on Sunday, June 29, by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the region.

"Due to strong winds and difficult terrain, the fire area has increased to 5 hectares. No further spread of the fire is allowed, there is no threat to the settlement," the Telegram channel of the department added.

It is specified that a total of 225 people and 33 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire, including two Mi-8 helicopters of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The fire in Alushta became known earlier that day. It was clarified that the extinguishing is complicated by inaccessible terrain, rocky massif, gusty winds up to 12 m/s.
