All cultural events related to Russia have been canceled in Azerbaijan
All cultural events planned by Russian institutions have been canceled in Azerbaijan. This decision was made on June 29 by the Ministry of Culture of the country.
"Cultural events planned to be held in Azerbaijan by Russian state and private enterprises, including concerts and festivals, are being canceled," the ministry said in a statement on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
The citizens were offered to hand over the previously purchased tickets, and the money will be refunded for them.
It is specified that the reason for the decision was the detention by the Yekaterinburg police of gang members in the Sverdlovsk region, which includes Azerbaijanis.
On June 28, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that the activities of an ethnic criminal group, whose members are suspected of a number of murders and attempted murders in recent years, had been suppressed in the Sverdlovsk region. According to investigators, the defendants were involved in crimes in Yekaterinburg committed in 2001, 2010 and 2011. Several suspects confessed.
At the same time, Pyotr Volokov, Charge d'affaires of the Russian Embassy in the country, who was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, explained the situation and assured that it was under the control of law enforcement agencies.
