The Jerusalem court approved the petition of the defense of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and released him from testifying for a week. This was announced by Kan TV and radio company on June 29.

"The judges of the Jerusalem District Court today (Sunday) granted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request to be excused from the hearing for a week," the publication says.

It is specified that the prime minister arrived at the court hearing together with the head of military intelligence, Major General Shlomi Binder, the head of Mossad Dedi Barnea, the deputy head of the National Security Council and representatives of Mossad. According to Kan, a decision regarding the second requested week of postponement will be made later.

Earlier, on June 27, the court rejected Netanyahu's request to release him from testifying in the corruption case. It was emphasized that the request submitted by Netanyahu's lawyer was not the basis for canceling the evidentiary hearing. Then the lawyer noted that the Prime Minister needed a two-week break to devote his time to "diplomatic, national security and first-order security issues."

In 2019, it became known that the wife of the Prime Minister of Israel, Sarah Netanyahu, was found guilty of improper use of state funds and ordered to pay a fine of 55 thousand shekels (at that time $ 15.2 thousand) for illegal use of catering services.

In February 2019, Israeli Prosecutor General Avichai Mendelblit announced his intention to bring charges against Netanyahu based on an investigation that has been underway for more than three years. The Israeli prime minister was suspected of bribing the media and receiving gifts from businessmen in exchange for patronage.
