The Ministry of Energy announced coal reserves in Russia for 1000 years ahead

The current coal reserves available in Russia will last the country for another 500-600 years, while with the additional exploration of new reserves, Russians will be provided with them even for 1000 years ahead. Dmitry Islamov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, announced this on June 29.
"Just to maintain current levels of coal production, we have enough for another 500-600 years, and if we continue to explore, then there will definitely be enough reserves for 1,000 years ahead," he said in a comment to TASS.
According to Islamov, coal will always be used in the world as an important energy resource, despite Europe's "green" agenda and experts' opinion that this fuel will soon disappear completely from the energy mix.
"Our opinion is that we will always use coal as an energy resource, as it can become completely clean in terms of both ecology and climate," the deputy energy minister said.
On April 1, Dmitry Patrushev, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, noted at a meeting on the management system of the subsoil fund that in Russia it is necessary to increase the effectiveness and coverage of monitoring the use of licenses for mineral resources, as well as digitalization and automation of processes in this area. He stressed that mining is one of the leading sectors of the Russian economy.
Last August, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the coal industry still has great prospects for development. The well-being of the country's future largely depends on its growth and success, he added.
