Three people died in a stampede at a religious festival in India.

In the Indian city of Puri, a massive stampede occurred at the largest Hindu festival Jagannath Rath Yatra, as a result of which three people were killed and more than 50 injured. This was reported by The Times of India on June 29.
"Six of the 50 people injured in the stampede at the temple in Odisha are in critical condition," the article said.
According to eyewitnesses, the situation escalated when two trucks with wooden logs tried to enter the already crowded area.
"The narrow meeting space, combined with the limited police presence and scattered ladders made of palm logs next to the chariots, created dangerous conditions for festival participants," said Chinmai Patra, an eyewitness.
The witnesses also noted that there was no well-organized movement of people near the temple, there was no separate entrance and exit. No one controlled the passage of trucks either. Two high-ranking police officers have been suspended by the authorities while the incident is being investigated.
On June 4, a stampede occurred in the Indian city of Bangalore in the state of Karnataka during the championship parade of the city's cricket team, killing 11 and injuring 33 people. A large crowd of fans of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru club gathered near the Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate the first Indian Premier League cricket championship, resulting in an uncontrollable stampede.
