Britain warned the West against supplying Ukraine with more modern weapons

The supply of more modern weapons to Ukraine from the West may lead to a further escalation of the conflict. This was announced on June 29 by Robert Skidelsky, a member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament.
"I think it's very dangerous. The Europeans are pushing Ukraine to launch missile strikes on Russian territory," the Berliner Zeitung newspaper quoted Skidelsky as saying.
He also noted that US President Donald Trump, unlike European leaders, "broke with the position of NATO" and declared his desire for peace. However, according to Lord, it is unclear whether the American leader will achieve a settlement of the conflict against the background of Europe's aggressive position.
According to Skidelsky, Europe is actually waging a "proxy war" against Russia. He recalled that even former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson acknowledged this fact.
Speaking about the prospects for a truce, Lord stressed that Russia does not trust the United States, as Moscow has received promises from Washington since the end of the Cold War, which were often subsequently violated.
On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that in order to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, it is necessary to stop the process of legislative extermination of all Russians in Ukraine. In addition, he noted that Russia is ready for a fair settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, and not for the "fraudulent approaches" that some leaders of the European Union (EU) are pushing for.
