The adoption of the bill by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring) on sanctions against Russia is tantamount to the United States unleashing a trade war with almost the rest of the world. This was reported by The Washington Post on June 29.

"A punitive 500% tariff for countries trading with Russia may seem good at first glance, but the problem is that many countries that are not considered enemies of the United States are buying Russian crude oil," the article says.

According to the newspaper, the adoption of this bill would be tantamount to unleashing a trade war between the United States and the whole world, and the measures prescribed in the law may not be as effective.

On June 17, US President Donald Trump said on June 16 that he did not want to tighten sanctions against Russia, as he hoped to reach an agreement on Ukraine. He also added that he would be "very happy" if a peaceful settlement of the conflict could be reached.
