The military court of the Ivanovo region sentenced two women for the murder of a military man

On June 29, the Second Western District Military Court issued a verdict in absentia against a Ukrainian citizen, Maria Savosta, and a Russian woman, Elena Popova, who are accused of committing a terrorist act and trafficking explosives, resulting in the death of a military man on December 30, 2024.

"By partially adding up the punishments, Savosta Maria Alexandrovna, a citizen of Ukraine, was finally sentenced to 18 years in a general regime colony. Popova Elena Alekseevna, a native of Serpukhov, is 24 years old in a general regime colony, as well as one year of restriction of freedom with a fine of 700 thousand rubles," the court verdict, which was reviewed by the TASS news agency, says.

According to the investigation, Konstantin Nagaiko, a 29-year-old battery commander of the missile brigade division in the city of Shuya, Ivanovo region. He received a package from Savosta as a New Year's gift, which contained an explosive device planted by Popova. The man died as a result of the explosion.

According to the agency, the convicts have been put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia. They are charged with crimes under Articles 205 ("Terrorist act") and 222.1 ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, transfer or carrying of explosives or explosive devices"). THE Criminal Code OF THE Russian Federation. The sentence imposed is subject to execution from the moment of the convicts' detention on the territory of the Russian Federation or their extradition.

Earlier, on June 25, in the Moscow region, the Federal Security Service (FSB) stopped Kiev agents from preparing a terrorist attack against a soldier. Two Russian citizens took an improvised explosive device (IED) from a cache and planned to use it to detonate one of the military personnel in the capital region.
