There are 60 forest fires in the Republic of Buryatia on a total area of more than 107 thousand hectares. This was announced on June 29 by the Forestry Agency of Buryatia in its Telegram channel.

"According to operational data, on the morning of June 29, 60 forest fires are active: in Barguzinsky, Bauntovsky, Evenki, Bichursky, Dzhidinsky, Yeravninsky, Kizhinginsky, Kyakhtinsky, Muisky, Okinsky, Pribaikalsky, North Baikal and Khorinsky districts," the report said.

At the same time, 16 forest fires have been extinguished, 10 fires have been localized on an area of more than 17 thousand hectares.

"16 forest fires have been eliminated: in Bauntovsky, Evenki, Bichursky, Yeravninsky, Zaigraevsky, Kizhinginsky, Kurumkansky, Kyakhtinsky, Mukhorshibirsky, Selenginsky and Tarbagatai districts, covering an area of 1,260 hectares," the forestry department noted.

The main cause of fires are dry thunderstorms. An emergency situation regime is in effect on the territory of the forest fund of Buryatia. It is noted that no threat to human settlements has been detected.

908 people and 141 units of special equipment are working at the site of the fires.

Earlier, on June 20, it was reported that the area of forest fires in the Krasnoyarsk Territory had grown to 171 hectares. Fires were recorded in the Magansky, Yeniseysky, Nizhne-Yeniseysky, Karatuzsky and Mininsky forest districts.
