Hockey clubs selected at least 21 Russians in the 2025 NHL Draft

Hockey clubs that are members of the National Hockey League (NHL) have selected at least 21 Russian players in the 2025 draft. The event was held in Los Angeles on June 28.

According to Sport-Express, only Sweden (30), the USA (52) and Canada (85) have more.

The four Russians — goalkeeper Semyon Frolov, striker Ivan Ryabkin, defender Kurban Limatov and defender Roman Bausov — will be taken by the Carolina Hurricanes. The team spent four of the six picks on hockey players from Russia.

The Russians also chose: Montreal, Islanders, Vancouver, Rangers, San Jose, Seattle, Detroit, Utah, St. Louis, Ottawa, Boston, Chicago, Tampa Bay", "Calgary" and "Florida".

Earlier that day, the Russian goalkeeper of the Red Army hockey club, Pyotr Andreyanov, was selected in the first round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. He was chosen by the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey club with the 20th overall number.
