A powerful 5.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Guatemala.


An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred on the coast of the western Guatemalan department of Escuintla. This was announced on June 28 by the Institute of Seismologists, Volcanologists, Meteorologists and Hydrologists of Guatemala (INSIVUMEH).
As they wrote on their page in X (ex. Twitter), the tremors were felt in several departments of the country at once. The natural event occurred at about 22:35 Moscow time, with the epicenter in El ok ano Paccho Fico, opposite the port of San Jose.
There is no information about casualties or damage yet.

On the same day, an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was reported on the website of the Institute of Geophysics of Ecuador. Its source lay at a depth of 45.5 km and was located near the city of Naranjal in the province of Guayas.
