US Secretary of State Rubio condemned Iran's call to arrest IAEA Chief Grossi


U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday, June 28, called unacceptable Iran's calls for the arrest and execution of Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.
"Calls in Iran for the arrest and execution of IAEA Director General Grossi are unacceptable and must be condemned. We support the IAEA's important verification and monitoring work in Iran and appreciate the dedication and professionalism of the agency's Director General and staff," Rubio wrote on his Facebook page. He added that the United States calls on Iran to ensure the safety and security of the IAEA staff.
This is how he commented on the material in the Iranian newspaper Kayhan, which is controlled by Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
"It is necessary to officially announce that upon arrival in Iran [Grossi] will be tried and executed on charges of spying for the Mossad," the newspaper said in a statement quoted by Iran Insight.
Earlier that day, the Iranian authorities banned Grossi from entering nuclear facilities. According to Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic Hamid-Reza Haji Babai, the decision is due to the discovery of confidential information about the facilities in documents received from Israel.
