More than 100 forest fires broke out in Turkey in two days


Over the past two days, 113 forest fires have been recorded in Turkey, six of which are still burning. This was announced on June 28 by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli.
"Over the past two days, 113 large—scale fires have occurred, of which only six forest fires remain," TRT Haber TV channel quoted Yumakly as saying.
According to the minister, three fires pose the greatest threat, which keep the risk of spreading. In this regard, two districts in Sakarya province and 11 villages in Bilecik were evacuated. In total, more than 300 people were evacuated from the fire zone.
"By order of the governor, three people who may be involved in the outbreak of the fire were detained," Yumakly said.
The minister specified that data on the extent of damage will be published after the fires are completely eliminated.
On June 25, it was reported that in the Turkish province of Izmir, residents of at least 20 houses in a mountainous area were evacuated due to a powerful forest fire. Seven planes, 14 helicopters, 24 water carriers and at least six bulldozers were sent to the region to bring the situation under control. It was clarified that at least two residential buildings were damaged by fire.
