The champion of Russia in motocross with strollers died at competitions in the Urals

Ruslan Kozub, the Russian motocross champion with strollers, died during a race at the national championships in the city of Irbit, Sverdlovsk region. This was announced on June 28 by the press service of the Russian Motorcycle Sports Federation (MFR).

"A terrible tragedy occurred at the stage of the Russian Motocross Wheelchair Championship in the city of Irbit. <...> As a result of a collision between crews No. 74 and No. 335, a fall occurred. Despite all the efforts of the medical teams on the highway and the immediate assistance provided, we lost Ruslan Andreevich Kozub," the organization's website says.

Due to the incident, the competitions in Irbit were stopped. The President of the MFR, Alexander Jeus, expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

"Ruslan will forever remain in our hearts as an athlete and a dedicated person. The Russian Motorcycle Federation will do everything possible to help Ruslan's family during this unbearably difficult time," added Jesus.

It is specified that the second participant in the incident, Alexander Pupyshev, was urgently hospitalized in the Central City Hospital of Irbit.

On June 16, 40-year-old Nikolai Krasnikov, an eight-time world champion in the individual competition, multiple champion and winner of the Russian Cup in motorcycle racing on ice, died in Bashkiria. The accident occurred on the 69th km of the R-240 highway near Ufa in the Kushnarenkovsky district. The car driven by Krasnikov collided with oncoming Gazelle and Sitrak trucks.
