Ukraine's possible accession to the European Union (EU), which has been discussed for a very long time, would be disastrous for the entire union, as it would harm its economic policy and security. This was announced on June 28 by Zoltan Koshkovich, an analyst at the Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights.

"Ukraine's entry would be an absolute disaster for the EU in terms of economy and security," he said on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

He added that now only Hungary openly opposes Ukraine's accession to the EU, and, in turn, only Slovakia supports it.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on June 26 that Ukraine should not be accepted into the EU and NATO, as this decision would lead to a war between Western countries and Russia. According to him, at the same time, Ukraine's membership in NATO "created the danger of the outbreak of World War III." On June 28, the politician said that Ukraine's accession to NATO would be comparable to setting fire to a powder keg.

As political analyst Denis Denisov stated in an interview with Izvestia on June 27, calls to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union do not bind the EU to anything and are only symbolic support for Kiev.
