The bank accounts of two-time Olympic pole vault champion Elena Isinbayeva, who left Russia, have been blocked due to non-payment of taxes.

As Izvestia clarified on June 28, the ex-athlete's debt is more than 818 thousand rubles. Three bank accounts associated with her were blocked.

Yelena Isinbayeva became Olympic champion in 2004 and 2008, and won a bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012. She is also a three-time outdoor world champion and a four-time indoor world champion.

On April 30, the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow Region opened a criminal case against coach and blogger Inna Tliashinova for tax evasion in the amount of 431 million rubles. According to the investigation, the coach evaded paying taxes from 2020 to 2022. Tliashinov was put on the wanted list.
