Customs officers of Belarus have stopped the import of a large batch of hashish weighing about 100 kg from Europe. As stated on June 28 in the message of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, the drug transportation was organized by Belarusians and accomplices from Lithuania by prior agreement.

"The narcotic drug was decomposed into 180 vacuum packages and hidden in a hollow space under the floor panels of a truck belonging to a Lithuanian carrier," the customs Telegram channel says.

The cargo arrived at the Kamenny Log checkpoint in Grodno under the guise of "concentrated pear puree". During the inspection of the truck, an inspection system was used, which revealed the hidden prohibited cargo using a scan.

After the search operations, customs officials identified the two Lithuanian organizers of the criminal group. The citizens of Belarus who participated in the scheme were detained and taken into custody.

Grodno regional Customs has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus ("Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs"). It provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years.

On May 23, Interior Minister of Belarus Ivan Kubrakov announced that during the joint work of the drug control units of Belarus and the Russian Federation, 35 persons involved in drug trafficking in Belarus were identified and brought to criminal responsibility. In addition, seven pawnbrokers were detained in Russia, from whom more than 50 kg of psychotropic substances were seized.
