In the Melovsky district of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), a bus crashed into a ditch, killing four people. This was reported on June 28 in the press service of the Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

It was established that the driver is an individual entrepreneur and provides commercial passenger transportation services on the Moscow — Donetsk route.

"Today (June 28. — Ed.) at night, he fell asleep at the wheel, as a result of which the minibus <...>.. He drove into a roadside ditch and overturned on a section of the Melovoe –Belovodsk highway," the Telegram channel says.

It is specified that there were nine passengers in the cabin. Four people were injured, and the driver himself was hospitalized.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence"). Currently, investigators are examining the accident site, and forensic and automotive technical examinations have already been appointed.

Earlier, on June 20, in the Aldan district of Yakutia, a bus driver was sentenced for an accident in which five people were killed. It was clarified that the driver lost control and drove into the oncoming lane, followed by a rollover into a ditch. He was sentenced to four years in prison in a penal colony, and his driver's license was also seized for a period of two years and six months.
