Zakharova spoke about the Nazi past of the grandfather of the new head of MI6 Metreveli

There is an obvious trend in the countries of the collective West with the purposeful appointment of descendants of the Nazis to senior positions. This was announced on June 28 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The trend is obviously neo-Nazi: [German Chancellor] Friedrich Merz, [future President of the UN General Assembly] Annalena Burbok, [Minister of Transport and Internal Trade of Canada] Chrystia Freeland, [former Georgian President] Salome Zurabishvili. Now the head of MI6, Blaze Metreveli, can be added to them. Someone purposefully and consciously puts descendants of the Nazis in leadership positions in the countries of the collective West," she wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to her, a number of historians believe that Metreveli's grandfather Konstantin Dobrovolsky participated in the executions of Jews in the Bariy Yar tract. Zakharova noted that he himself assured that he was not in Babi Yar. She called this standard behavior for war criminals who seek to avoid responsibility.

She also noted that in 1943 Dobrovolsky received permission to export his son Konstantin to Europe. According to her, there is no mention of him afterwards. Most likely, according to Zakharova, Dobrovolsky was eliminated either by advancing units of the Red Army during the liberation of Soviet Ukraine, or he was "overtaken by a well-deserved punishment," or he was killed by his own people in confusion or while trying to escape justice.

The Daily Mail newspaper learned on June 26 that Metreveli's grandfather turned out to be a Ukrainian collaborator. According to the newspaper, Dobrovolsky collaborated with the Reich during the occupation of Ukraine by Nazi Germany. It was clarified that he was nicknamed the Butcher for his cruelty. According to the publication, Dobrovolsky personally took part in the extermination of Jews. At the same time, it was noted that Metreveli had never met her grandfather.
