Ukraine's accession to NATO would be comparable to setting fire to a powder keg due to the threat of conflict with the Russian Federation. This was announced on June 28 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"The EU's reckless rush to accept Ukraine will move the front line to the very heart of Europe. This is not diplomacy, this is madness: matches are not thrown into a powder keg," Orban wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to him, Ukraine's entry into the North Atlantic Alliance would lead to a conflict between NATO and Russia and World War III.

"We will not allow them to turn Europe into a battlefield," the politician concluded.

On June 26, Orban said that Ukraine should not be accepted into the European Union (EU) and NATO, since this decision would lead to a war between Western countries and Russia. According to him, at the same time, Ukraine's membership in NATO "created the danger of the outbreak of World War III."
