- Politico has learned about the EU's plans to create a trade club without the United States

The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, proposed to cooperate the efforts of the European Union (EU) countries and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to create a new trade union. This was reported by Politico on June 27.
"According to [von der Leyen], the new association will rebuild the rules—based global trade order, reforming or perhaps even replacing the now largely defunct World Trade Organization," the publication says.
It is noted that the initiative can rebuff the aggressive approach to the economy and tariff wars of US President Donald Trump, and do it "in his own wild conditions."
So, according to the plans of politicians, the United States will not be automatically invited to the new bloc. Von der Leyen clarified that the EU and the CPTPP will have to decide whether to allow America to join the trade union.
On June 27, Reuters reported on a new U.S. proposal for a trade deal with the European Union (EU). According to the agency's source, one official called the US proposal an outline containing only a few points.
