Canadian Prime Minister Mark Joseph Carney said he intends to continue trade negotiations with Washington, despite the decision of US President Donald Trump to terminate them. This was announced on June 27 by the CBS television channel.
"We will continue to conduct these difficult negotiations in the interests of Canadians," Carney was quoted as saying by the TV channel.
According to CBS, the Canadian Prime Minister has not yet spoken to Trump about this.
Earlier in the day, Trump announced the termination of trade negotiations with Canada. The US leader clarified that Canada will be notified of the rate of its future trade duties within the next seven days.
