Supporters of Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan came to the courthouse in Yerevan, awaiting a decision against the clergyman. This was reported by Izvestia on the evening of June 27.

"Archbishop Ajapakhyan's supporters are gathered here now, awaiting the court's decision," Izvestia correspondent Ivan Litomin reported from the scene.

It is reported that "hundreds of police officers" lined up along the building. Hayk Mamidzhanyan, an Armenian opposition MP from the I Have the Honor faction, also said that there is "a small group of people in Armenia who have clung to power" and are opposing the archbishop.

"In any political action that gives us the opportunity to liberate our homeland, we must participate <...>, [Armenian Prime Minister Nikol] Pashinyan commits treason," the oppositionist said.

Ajapakhyan was detained on June 27. The Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened a criminal case against him on calls to overthrow the government in Armenia.

Before that, there was a scuffle between police officers and priests near the residence of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. It was clarified that the security forces tried to detain Ajapakhyan, but the believers and priests did not allow him to be taken away.

On the same day, Ajapakhyan refused to run for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia.
