Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Turkey is ready to mediate the third round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. He told the A Haber TV channel about this on June 27.

He stressed that after the completion of the second round of negotiations, both sides are ready for the next stage.

"We clearly see a desire to move on to the third round if both sides fulfill their promises to each other to some extent. <...> We are ready to play our mediation role if only we contribute to ending the conflict," Fidan said.

The Turkish Foreign Minister also commented on the positions of Russia and Ukraine before the start of the third round, noting that with proper mediation, the parties can find a compromise.

"If good negotiations are held, if there is an intention to reach a compromise, and if the mediator takes some part in this, they will be able to find a compromise. <...> Holding such meaningful meetings and organizing them is an important contribution of our President [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] to international diplomacy," Fidan explained.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the subject of upcoming negotiations with Ukraine would be the discussion of memoranda between the two countries. The President noted that the memoranda of the two states are "absolutely opposite," but thanks to the negotiations, the countries will begin to "look for ways of rapprochement."
