All European countries understand that Ukraine in the European Union (EU) is a ballast capable of dragging everyone else to the economic bottom. Alexey Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, told Izvestia on June 27.

"Actually, this issue was raised in Hungary in a referendum, as it should be in exemplary democracies, and the overwhelming majority of the population - 95% — opposed Ukraine's accession to the EU. However, it is not only Orban who stands on this path, and not only Hungary. I am sure that all European countries, without exception, understand that Ukraine in this union is a ballast capable of dragging everyone else to the economic bottom. It was convenient to keep promises in front of Ukrainians when they were just about to jump into lace panties," he said.

According to Zhuravlev, now that Ukraine has fulfilled its mission of an armed conflict with Russia, the EU can do without sentiment towards Ukrainians. He recalled that the countries of Eastern Europe have already stated that they do not need Ukrainian agricultural products on the domestic market.

"Ukraine will never join the EU, because, despite all the beautiful words, no one was going to accept it there," he concluded.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on June 24 that Ukraine should not be accepted into the EU and NATO, as this decision would lead to a war between Western countries and Russia. He clarified that it was in Hungary's security interests not to become part of a common integration structure with Kiev.
