In the Murmansk region, since the beginning of the season, 30 people have applied to medical institutions in connection with the sucking of ticks. All cases are imported, according to the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.

"As of June 25, 2025, medical organizations serving the population of municipalities subordinate to the Administration received 30 complaints from citizens about tick bites. All cases are imported," the report says.

At the same time, as specified in the department, 50.5% of suckling cases occurred on the territory of neighboring Karelia, which, unlike the Murmansk region, is an endemic territory inhabited by ticks. According to her, the figures are already much higher: 2,559 people, including 486 children, were affected by ticks.

In the laboratory of the Murmansk region, 21 specimens of ticks taken from humans were examined. In one case, an antigen of the causative agent of tick-borne viral encephalitis was detected, Bi-port news agency clarifies.
