Nebenzia called Kiev's desire to return to the situation of 1991 unrealistic.

Ukraine is striving to return to what it was in 1991, although this is impossible. This was announced on Friday, June 27, by Russia's Permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia.
He stressed that in such a situation, Russia should determine Ukraine's position and understand how sincerely Kiev is conducting peace negotiations.
"At the moment, their position is to return to what it was in 1991, and this is unrealistic. Next, they must demonstrate this (desire for peace. — Ed.) the cessation of mobilization, demobilization. You see, this will be a litmus test of the seriousness of their demands and their position," Nebenzia said in an interview with RT.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the subject of the upcoming negotiations would be the discussion of memoranda between the two countries, which are "absolutely opposite." The Russian leader noted that negotiations are necessary for this, in order to "look for ways of rapprochement." In addition, Putin stressed that the negotiating groups of both Russia and Ukraine are in constant contact with each other.
