Dentist warned about the need to visit a dentist for pregnant women

If you do not treat caries or other dental diseases during pregnancy, you can cause great harm to both your health and the health of the child. Vyacheslav Minko, a dentist, orthopedic surgeon, and chief physician of the Dr.Minko Dental Clinic, told Izvestia about this on June 30.
The dentist explained that if a woman is planning a pregnancy, she usually performs a certain check-up of her body. And he always visits the dentist in order to identify and eliminate all dental problems in advance. This option, according to the doctor, is ideal.
"But it also happens that pregnancy is unplanned. And it also happens that during pregnancy, the body's immune system malfunctions and this leads to various pathologies, including teeth and gums," warned Minko.
The most important thing is not to postpone the solution of dental problems for a long time, be sure to treat bad teeth and visit the dentist when the problem is discovered and discomfort arises. In case of acute pain, you need to go to the doctor immediately, and be sure to inform him about the timing of pregnancy, because the fetus is most vulnerable in the first trimester, when placental protection is not formed. Accordingly, the doctor will give the necessary recommendations, develop a treatment regimen and perform only those manipulations that are acceptable at the moment and will not cause harm.
"Starting from the 13th week, treatment is completely acceptable, including with the use of anesthesia - there are enough anesthetics in the arsenal of doctors today that act as gently as possible and do not pose any threat to the fetus," the dental surgeon reassured.
However, according to him, if you do not treat caries or other dental diseases during pregnancy, you can cause great harm to both your health and the health of the child. After all, the occurrence of pathology, painful sensations signal that an inflammatory process is taking place in the body, which must be eliminated as quickly and effectively as possible. It is even allowed to remove a tooth during pregnancy if the damage is such that it carries the risk of serious diseases.
"During pregnancy, a woman's body often lacks calcium, which can cause tooth decay. But chalk, which, of course, contains a lot of calcium, is better not to eat, but it is necessary to consult with a gynecologist about the diet, as well as taking vitamins and minerals," the specialist noted.
Earlier, on May 28, Elena Churakina, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the Sberbank Health medical company, spoke about the benefits of nuts. They contain many minerals necessary for various metabolic processes. For example, phosphorus is needed to maintain the strength of teeth and bones.
