Even a short walk in the fresh air can lead to unpleasant situations. Ekaterina Demyanovskaya, Candidate of Medical Sciences, expert doctor at the Hemotest Laboratory, told Izvestia on June 30 about how to prepare for a hike, provide first aid if necessary, and who should not go into the forest alone at all.

According to the expert, it is worth taking a first-aid kit with you for a trip to nature. It should contain painkillers, bandages, antiseptics and insect bites, as you can get injured, tick bite or face other dangers in the forest.

If a person notices a stuck tick, it must be carefully removed by grabbing it as close to the skin as possible and slowly twisting it out. After that, it is important to treat the bite site with an antiseptic.

"It is advisable to keep the tick alive, and upon returning from the forest, take it to the laboratory for analysis and contact the emergency room or an infectious disease specialist," the doctor said.

As for snake bites, Demyanovskaya added, it is important to minimize movement so that the venom does not spread faster. Do not try to cut the wound or suck out the poison — it can be dangerous. It is better to apply a sterile cloth and seek medical help as soon as possible.

In addition, the expert spoke about the signs of heat stroke: dizziness, thirst and skin discoloration appear. It is necessary to go into the shade, take off excess clothes and apply a cold compress to the body. It is also important to drink lightly salted water in small sips. If the condition does not improve, you should seek medical help.

"For those who are going camping, it is also important to know about the rules of first aid for fractured ribs. Such an injury can be suspected if shortness of breath and severe pain occur when breathing after a fall, and swelling increases at the site of the injury. It is necessary to put the victim in a reclining position, but do not let him lie on his back. Then you should press your hands tightly against your body to fix the broken rib," Demyanovskaya said.

People with cardiovascular diseases and diabetes are not recommended to walk alone in the woods, the doctor emphasized. It is important to have medicines with you, a charged phone and not go far from a cellular connection point in order to be prepared for unforeseen situations.

On April 29, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported that more than 29.8 thousand Russians had suffered from tick bites since the beginning of the season. Residents of the Sverdlovsk, Kemerovo, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Moscow and Tomsk regions most often applied to medical institutions with this problem.
