The Supreme Court of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) sentenced Svetlana Kovaleva to 15 years in prison in a penal colony for espionage for the needs of Ukraine. This was announced on June 27 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
According to the investigation, in May 2023, the woman collected information about the locations and composition of Russian military personnel in the LPR, after which she transmitted the collected data to the Ukrainian special services through telephone conversations.
It is noted that the 56-year-old defendant has Ukrainian citizenship. She was found guilty under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Espionage").
On June 24, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) handed down a verdict in the criminal case against 35-year-old local resident Julian Belokon in the espionage case. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.
