Ukrainian refugees have been denied asylum in the UK more often. This was reported by the Guardian newspaper on June 27.

"The British Home Office refuses to grant asylum to Ukrainians on the grounds that they can safely return to Ukraine," the article says.

One of the Ukrainians also told the newspaper about the refusal of the British authorities to grant asylum on the grounds that they could move to another place in Ukraine.

Galina Semchak, an immigration lawyer at Sterling Law, clarified that this trend is caused by amendments made in January by the British Interior Ministry, which now considers regions such as Kiev and Western Ukraine to be "generally safe."

On June 8, the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) pointed out the inability of the European Union (EU) to resolve the issue of refugees from Ukraine. According to the publication, after the outbreak of the military conflict, about 4.3 million Ukrainians received temporary protection status in EU countries, the European Commission (EC) proposed extending it again, until 2027, although this status is usually valid only for three years.
