A court in the DPR sentenced a German mercenary to 14 years in prison in absentia.


In the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), a court sentenced a German mercenary to 14 years in prison in absentia. This was announced on June 27 by the press service of the DPR Prosecutor's office.
"The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic has pronounced a verdict in absentia in a criminal case against a 24-year-old citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany <...>. He was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict")," the material says.
It is specified that on September 12, 2023, the person involved, having arrived in Ukraine, joined the ranks of one of the units. First, he underwent military training, then he was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniforms and special equipment to participate in combat operations against the Russian military.
In addition, in 2022, the man collected and delivered aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), collaborated with the reception center for Ukrainian refugees in the village of Medyka in Poland.
The court sentenced the mercenary in absentia to 14 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.
Earlier, on June 18, a 36-year-old Georgian citizen was sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony. It was clarified that the attacker took part in the armed conflict on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For this, he received a reward, the amount of which amounted to over 2.4 million rubles.
