Gas consumption in Russia reached record levels in 2024, and it will continue to grow in the long term. This was announced on June 27 by Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller in an address following the annual shareholders' meeting.

"Gas consumption in Russia reached a new record level in 2024. In the long term, demand is projected to be even higher," he is quoted as saying on the company's Telegram channel.

He added that to date, about 900,000 Russian families have installed indoor equipment and have become gas consumers.

According to Miller, gas demand is growing all over the world. It is specified that in the first five months of 2025, global gas consumption increased by 20 billion cubic meters. The head of Gazprom stressed that by 2050, global gas consumption is projected to grow by about a third.

On June 26, the European statistical agency Eurostat reported that Russia ranks second in the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe in the first quarter of 2025. The Russian Federation also took the third place in terms of natural gas supplies in a gaseous state. The indicator was 11.1%.
