The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Krakow has stopped its work

The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Krakow has stopped its work at the request of the Polish authorities. This was announced on June 27 by the Charge d'affaires of Russia in Poland, Andrei Ordash.
According to him, the building that the consulate rented on Biskupa Street was transferred to Poland. Ordash stressed that the parties have already signed the latest documents.
"Thus, the Consulate General, which has been functioning here for 80 years without interruption, has been closed," he told RIA Novosti.
Ordash stressed that the reason for this decision was allegedly the actions of the Russian special services, which the Polish authorities accused of starting a fire in a shopping mall in Warsaw. According to him, such a decision is not justified by anything, the Polish side could not provide evidence to support its accusation.
In addition, Ordash added that Russia's response may be to close one of the two remaining Polish consulates general in Irkutsk or Kaliningrad.
On May 12, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced that he had decided to withdraw his consent to the work of the consulate in Krakow. He clarified that the closure was due to alleged acts of sabotage.
