- The analyst called the searches in Armenian churches a "desecration" of people's perception

The searches in the Shirak diocese in Gyumri indicate that the Armenian authorities are systematically working to "desecrate" the perception of residents and destroy their self-awareness. Analyst Arman Abovyan told Izvestia about this on June 27.
"What is happening in Armenia now clearly fits into the process of breaking the Armenian identity, that is, in general, the ability to resist. In fact, we are witnessing that the foundation of the Armenian identity is being destroyed <... > Systematic work is underway to "desecrate" people's perceptions," he shared.
The analyst clarified that the church remained the only system that fought for the Armenian identity and served as the ideological foundation of the country, which preserved the position of the nation.
According to Abovyan, over the past seven years, Armenia has been facing difficult times in its history, which may pose risks to the country's existence.
"Are we going to get out of this? Of course, we'll get out. The only question is, with what losses will our country remain, or will it no longer exist," the analyst concluded.
On the same day, police surrounded the building of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Gyumri, and searches took place there. It is noted that law enforcement officers wanted to detain Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan, against whom a criminal case was opened on June 26.
On June 25, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the opposition movement "Holy Struggle", and 14 other people, his supporters, were detained in Armenia as part of a criminal case on an "attempt to seize power." On June 26, Galstanyan was arrested for two months.
