- The vote of no confidence in the head of the EC von der Leyen was supported by 74 MEPs

More than 70 MEPs supported the initiative to vote no confidence in the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen in the case of the concealment of information about contracts for the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19. This was announced on June 27 by the Euractiv portal.
It is specified that out of 79 deputies from the European Conservative and Reformist Group, 31 representatives signed a vote of no confidence.
"The proposal, signed by a total of 74 MEPs, could lead to a plenary vote on the dissolution of the commission, although such a vote is likely to be unsuccessful," the article says.
It is noted that in accordance with the legislation of the European Union (EU), signatures of 72 members of parliament are required to initiate a vote of no confidence. At the same time, despite the fact that such decisions were met five times, no vote of no confidence was passed on anyone.
The day before, the Financial Times newspaper reported that the head of the European Commission faces a vote of no confidence over the concealment of data on contracts for the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19.
On May 14, the EU Court of Justice found the head of the EC responsible for concealing information about contracts for the purchase of vaccines. It was clarified that such a decision could deal a crushing blow to von der Leyen's reputation.
