The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about scammers attacking businesses through Zoom and Word

Scammers continue to attack small and medium-sized businesses, disguising malware under Zoom, Word, ChatGPT, Google Drive. On June 27, the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia informed about this.

"According to Kaspersky Lab, hackers continue to attack small and medium—sized businesses, disguising malware, phishing and fraudulent schemes as legitimate services," the agency's Telegram channel says.

It is clarified that Zoom is most often attacked. In four months of 2025, this platform was used in 40% of cases. According to the agency, this is due to the fact that Zoom is used for negotiations, and it is also easy to fake the interface. The platform also has access to critical resources such as microphones, cameras, and corporate negotiations.

"Recommendations for protection: download software only from official resources; check the digital signatures of installers; use reliable antivirus software," the agency stressed.

On June 26, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia talked about ways to protect large amounts on the card from fraudsters. The agency advised keeping the "operational minimum" on the card, using a debit card only for current expenses, and limiting the amount of cash withdrawals and payments for purchases.
