Serbian Prime Minister says Belgrade refuses to join sanctions against Russia

Serbia is not going to join the sanctions against Russia. This was announced on June 27 by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Juro Matsut.
"As long as I am prime minister, the Serbian government will not join the sanctions against Russia," he said in an interview with TASS.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also previously confirmed that while he holds office, the country is not going to join the anti-Russian sanctions.
On June 4, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EU intends to introduce a new package of sanctions against Russia at the same time as the United States in order to increase pressure on Russia. She stressed that the EU plans to include measures against Russian energy and financial transactions in the new package of sanctions.
At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told NATO allies on June 25 that Congress would study the issue of tightening sanctions against Russia after the adoption of the tax bill by American leader Donald Trump. It is clarified that the American administration does not seek to impose sanctions quickly, as this may interfere with the negotiation process on Ukraine. Rubio stressed that Trump himself will decide when and under what conditions to tighten anti-Russian sanctions.
