In the Irkutsk region, police officers detained a man suspected of illegally manufacturing weapons. This was announced on Friday, June 27, by the press service of the regional main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"A resident of the Slyudyansky district found an empty machine gun, converted to fire live ammunition. The message that a man in a Toyota Land Cruiser car can transport illegally stored weapons was received by the police department from a concerned local resident," the Telegram channel reported.

The man was arrested while checking the information received. When examining his car, the police found a weapon structurally similar to a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

A criminal case has been opened into the illegal manufacture of weapons (Part 1 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to the man, he purchased a stripped-down machine gun in June 2017, then redid it and bought cartridges. He told the police that he had fired it in the woods. Later, six shell casings were found in the coastal area of Lake Baikal.

On April 25, police officers detained a 32-year-old resident of Khabarovsk with a live grenade and a sniper rifle scope. During a search of his friend's apartment, three sawn-off shotguns of various calibers, a homemade carbine, 14 cartridges for hunting weapons, as well as the body of a training grenade and educational imitation fuses for fuses were seized.
