Five scammers were detained at the airport in Primorye.

Five extortionists were arrested on the territory of Vladivostok International Airport named after V.K. Arsenyev. This was announced on June 26 by the Primorsky Krai Prosecutor's Office in its Telegram channel.

"In the period from September 2021 to May 2024, the defendants used violence, as well as the threat of its use and destruction of the vehicle, extorted funds from a foreign citizen engaged in private transportation," the report said.

According to the agency, the victim transferred funds to the fraudsters every month, the total amount amounted to over 600 thousand rubles.

A criminal case was opened on this fact under paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 163 ("Extortion committed by an organized group"), part 5 of Article 33 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Complicity in a crime").

Earlier, on June 26, a pensioner gave 1.1 million rubles to fraudsters in the Lipetsk region. According to the victim, she received a call from a stranger who introduced himself as an employee of the Department of Social Protection of the Population, who reported that her bank accounts were allegedly under threat.
